After receiving fresh blue velvet, 2 works were produced on Februari 17, 2018. Immediately the question arose why? Jef saw 2 paintings made by Martial Raysse during BRAFA2018 in Brussels. Those works show a woman's head. Big surprise was that these works with a size of an A4 were priced 300 000 euro.
Exhibitions may trigger new horizons for artists. Glow in the dark was triggered around August 1st, 2015 just before Kempart 2015. The main idea was to develop works of art for the bedroom!. The glow in the dark effect lasted for about half an hour. Visitors enjoyed those works in the darkness of our toilet!
By december 2015, Type 22 of glow in the dark permance system was developed by Jef Keustermans. A paint mixture "glowing to the next morning" was achieved. This means a painting in a dark bedroom glows the whole night! It also performed well at daytime: when a dark cloud blocks the sun, the painting lights up in your livingroom.
The glow in the dark colour of type 22 is greenish. (groenig)
In november 2017, not long before Jef's first Art3F exhibition in Expo, Brussels, Jef developed a new glow in the dark system called type 23. Type 23 is more suited for abstract works of art, which Jef was making at that time. Initially Type 23 is less bright than Type 22, but Type 23 lasts longer.
The glow in the dark colour of type 22 is more blue-ish (blauw-achtig).
Initially the aim (het doel) to make bedroom works of art triggered the introduction of " glow in the dark " in the work of Jef Keustermans. As usual much deeper laying motives, lay underneath: in this case it must be that the world never sleeps in the world of the internet. In such world, also the works of art cannot go to sleep when the night comes along...! A WORK HAS TO PERFORM DAY & NIGHT
